meet Jax
Founder of The Serenity Practice | Interfaith Minister | Counsellor & Breathworker
I’m Jax – a counsellor, breathworker, interfaith minister, wife, mother, woman. I’m also 50-something with AuDHD (autism and ADHD), which I only discovered recently and which explained a lot about why I’ve always done five different things at once and why I’ve always been this way.
I’ve been doing this work for years. I know what happens when women finally feel part of something bigger. I know how much it helps to remember that we’re not alone.
I started The Serenity Practice after spending years being the one everyone leaned on – at work, at home, in my community – while quietly running on empty myself.
For over a decade I’ve worked in counselling and breathwork. But the biggest shifts in my work didn’t come from training. They came from learning how not to do it all alone.
I used to think talking was the only way to heal. Then my daughter had her mental health crisis, and all that knowledge left me terrified and alone. What saved me wasn’t another qualification – it was other women. Showing up. Holding me. Letting me fall apart and putting the kettle on anyway.
That’s when I started working differently. I joined women’s circles – small groups meeting regularly to speak honestly, listen deeply, and share the weight of life. No advice. No fixing. Just steady, generous attention.
Those circles reminded me what’s possible when care is shared. When people stay present, even when it’s messy. When no one is trying to make it better – just to be with you in it.
That’s why I opened my home for The Space. And why my friends who are co-hosts and cooks come too – experienced coaches, counsellors, and circle holders. We know what to do when people need to cry or laugh or just sit quietly for a while.
“Come exactly as you are – angry, exhausted, heartbroken, joyously happy, or perfectly content. We’re not here to fix each other – we’re just here to be real people having real human experiences together.”
The Serenity Practice is a Community Interest Company (CIC) – a not-for-profit that exists to make this kind of care accessible. We live in a world that tells us to hold it together and keep performing. But so many of us are tired, overwhelmed, or quietly struggling.
What we need isn’t more advice. We need space. We need to remember we were never meant to do this alone.
